Trailer for ‘Escape’ by Rodrigo Cortés, with Mario Casas and produced by Scorsese

Three years after love in its placethe director Rodrigo Cortes releases movies again and will be Exhausta black comedy and action (sort of) that is also his first feature film shot in Spanish since his 2007 debut with Contestant. And the Galician filmmaker has had nothing less than the support of Martin Scorsese as executive producer, whom he met during an interview he conducted in 2018. It was then that the American filmmaker confessed, to his surprise, I had seen all his movies.

Furthermore, he has been able to assemble a cast full of big names of Spanish cinema. Already in his previous works, he managed to get interpreters of a high international level, for example Sigourney Weaver, Robert De Niro, Cillian Murphy either Leonardo Sbaraglia in the paranormal thriller red lights (2012), or with Ryan Reynolds in his most celebrated film to date, Buried (2010).

For his sixth feature film, he has resorted to a free adaptation of the novel by Enrique Rubio and tells the curious story of N, a damaged man, because something is not right inside him, disenchanted with life and whose only objective today is for the State to take care of him, even if it is at the cost of his freedom. That is, locking him up for whatever crime it may be.

N. just wants to live in prison and will do whatever it takes to achieve it. But will those closest to him make him desist from committing increasingly serious crimes? AND… How far will the judge be willing to go to not grant his “wish”?

Mario Casas He is the one who plays the protagonist, and who responds to the practically anonymous name of “N”. And next to him, a cast of bells that includes Anna Castillo, Blanca Portillo, José Sacristán, Guillermo Toledo, Blanca Portillo, José Sacristán, Josep María Pou, David Lorente, Juanjo Puigcorbé or the singer-songwriter Albert Pla. And taking into account that it premieres in a few weeks, it has finally been launched, a first trailer.

Produced by Adrian Guerra and Núria Vallsfrom Nostromo Pictures, together with Rodrigo Cortés and the French production company The Project, in association with Mogambo and Cosmopolitan TV, and with the support of RTVE and Movistar Plus+, Exhausta story that gives a total twist to the classic escape stories, type Papillon either The escape from Alcatrazhas set the date of its arrival in Spanish cinemas for October 31 distributed by Beta Fiction Spain.
