There are thousands and thousands of people, those who have lost everythinghundreds are grieving for the deceased, and there are still many families who know nothing about their loved ones. And, from the first day, the knights and ladies of the Order of the Valencian delegation have been organized to help by working with the means at their disposal, but without rest.
During the week there are fewer of them, but on weekends, joining the wave of solidarity, volunteers from other parts of Spain join them. Among them, the duke of CalabriaGrand Master of this dynastic institution, which is dedicated to promoting welfare, humanitarian, cultural and heritage actions in accordance with Christian principles.
One more volunteer
As in other difficult circumstances, Don Pedro, Head of the Royal House of the Two Sicilies, He tried to go unnoticed and be just another volunteer.because he does not want any prominence – his maxim is always discretion -, but a photo (which went viral) and the news were leaked on the networks, and, finally, the Constantinian Order shared some images made for its archive supporting the idea that we all have a duty to help to the extent we can and that “I wish we could do more.”
Among the trail of devastation, Don Pedro cleaned streets, collected trash, listened to dramatic stories and provided food support to the neighbors by delivering more than 1,000 portions of hot food, thanks to the generosity of the businessman, Antonio Sánchez de León y Cotoner, knight of the Order, who accompanied him at all times.
Likewise, previously, the Duke of Calabria also issued a message of support and affection, expressing his “deepest condolences” and asking the patron saints of the Order “that those affected have strength and hope.”
It’s a colossal fight
The war against mud continues. It is a colossal combat in the affected towns. Among them, Catarroja, which with its almost 30,000 inhabitants is one of the municipalities most affected by the floods of October 29. The photos were taken there. Don Pedro, like one more, with glovesmask, clothes completely stained with mud, and wellies to move through the mud-filled streets helping in humanitarian work.
The Constantinian Order of Saint George Foundation is putting all its effort into supporting the people who need it most and asking for collaboration in direct donation aid through its website. It is “an order from people to people” who during COVID distributed thousands of liters of milk and oil through the Red Cross; and in recent years it has also been present in countries in conflict. Among them, in the region of Transcarpathia, in the middle of the Russian-Ukrainian war; and, more recently in Lebanon, with Don Pedro always at the head. Because whether “little or much, the aid has to reach the final beneficiary,” and that is the way to verify that it is delivered on the ground, alleviating needs.
