Denzel Washington mistakenly revealed that he will star in the upcoming “Black Panther” film.
CINEMA – A return to Wakanda which was not known by fans. In the middle of a promotional tour for the release of Gladiator II in which he plays Macrinus, the actor Denzel Washington made a mistake. He revealed that he is expected to star in the upcoming film Black Panther…even though the film has not yet been announced by Marvel.
As you can see in the video below, the 69-year-old actor is a guest on the Australian show Today on November 11. During the interview broadcast on Channel 9, he is asked about possible pressure to star in the sequel to a film which won several Oscars. “For me, what matters are the directors. Particularly at this stage of my career, I only want to work with the best”he declares.
Then, Denzel Washington talks about his future. “I don’t know how many more films I’m going to make. There probably won’t be many.”he explains to his interlocutor before listing the next projects in which he will appear before retiring. “I want to do things I haven’t done yet”he continues.
OthelloSteve McQueen and Black Panther
“I played Othello when I was 22. I’m about to play Othello again at 70. Then I’ll play Hannibal. After that, I discussed a movie with Steve McQueen. Then Ryan Coogler writes me a role in the next one Black Panther »he says. He concludes by indicating that he will also be in the film adaptation ofOthello and at the theater with another play by William Shakespeare, King Lear.
But in revealing his schedule for the coming months, Denzel Washington was not careful about what he could or could not say. If his participation in Netflix’s production of Hannibal is already known, no information is circulating on Steve McQueen’s project. And even less on the existence of a third part of Black Panther. We therefore learn that the director of the first two films, Ryan Coogler, is working on the project.
The connection with Chadwick Boseman
As the American magazine explains Varietythe presence of Denzel Washington in the saga Black Panther is the logical sequence of events. Actor Chadwick Boseman, the Black Panther hero who died of cancer in 2020, revealed that the 69-year-old actor paid for summer acting classes for him. “There is no Black Panther without Denzel Washington »he proclaimed on the stage of the ceremony of American Film Institute Awards in 2019.
The release date of Black Panther 3 is not yet known since the film has not been made official by Disney. The Marvel Cinematic Universe program is already established until 2027 and there is no trace of this feature film to report. On the other hand, an animated series called Eyes of Wakanda is scheduled for August 2025. Enough to keep fans of Black Panther until then.
