The Table of the Madrid Assembly has fined 22 days without pay to Pablo Padilla, deputy of Más Madrid, for simulate that he was shooting during the plenary session on May 23. “What I have done while Ayuso justified the genocide is the gesture of Israel’s snipers murdering 14,000 children. My gesture is an anecdote, what Netanyahu did is a genocide. I wish the PP would be half as angry with him as with me,” Padilla himself explained on his X account (formerly Twitter) after the plenary session.
The governing body of the Chamber approved this Friday this sanction proposed by the investigator of the case, Mercedes Zarzalejo (PP), with the votes in favor of the PP and Vox and the rejection of the PSOE and Más Madrid. More Madrid has fifteen days to present allegations and, in this case, the execution of the sanction will be suspended until the Assembly Board decides on reconsideration.
According to the statement from the Assembly Board, The process began after a complaint from Vox. The resolution considers that the deputy is the author of inappropriate conduct in the exercise of his duties, which violates “due respect for the discipline and order of the Chamber as it affects its normal functioning.”
The file also indicates that there was a “conscious and intentional alteration” of the development of the debate in the Plenary. “Interrupting and altering, with gestures inappropriate to parliamentary decorumthe use of the word by the president of the Community of Madrid,” he adds.
The sanction has been set at 22 calendar days and does not extend to other rights of the deputy. After the meeting of the Board in which the sanction against Padilla was approved, the spokesperson for the PP Group, Carlos Díaz-Pache, said in statements to the media that “Political violence is not acceptable” and believes that “the proposed sanction is proportionate.”
For his part, the spokesperson for the socialists – who have voted against the sanction -, Juan Lobato, considered this Thursday that it is “subjective” sanction Padilla for a “gesture.”
