Corgi Siblings Fighting Over Blanket Win Pet of the Week

This week we’ve seen just how big a St. Bernard puppy gets in just three months and cheered on a dog’s mission to become a “bark ranger” at every National Park.

As well as viral pet videos and stories, we’ve been sent readers’ pictures and videos of their pets for the weekly Pet of the Week line-up.

If you want your pet to be involved next week, follow the instructions at the end of this story to get involved.

Ann Graham

This week’s Pet of the Week winners are Ollie and Gracie, two corgi siblings who have a true brother-sister relationship.

“They always want what the other one has, and this time Ollie decided he shares enough and wasn’t going to lose the blanket,” owner Ann Graham told Newsweek.

In a hilarious video, the pair had an adorable squabble over the blanket. But despite arguing over the little things, their bond is undeniable.

“They are best buddies and awesome dogs,” Graham said. “Gracie is smarter, but Ollie is kind and caring and his face melts my heart.”

Finalists

Aussi the dog

Our first finalist this week is Aussi, who recently died after 15 years by his owner’s side. Whether they were working, walking, swimming, or hiking, Aussi was always there, creating an inseparable bond.

“Aussi would actually open doors for me looking for me. If it was a pull-down lever he would pull it down and open it,” his owner told Newsweek.

The pair would play hide and seek together, and spent every single day and night together.

“My little buddy is no longer here, but forever in my heart,” his owner said.

Next up this week is miniature poodle Archie who was having a bit of a “bad hair day” after an encounter with the couch.

“He’s having a bad hair day after rubbing himself on a synthetic throw on the couch,” his loving owner Lesley Hunt told Newsweek. “He’s feeling charged—with static.”

Daisy and Zoey

Michelle Fenton

Last but not least this week are Daisy and Zoey, two dogs who live with owner Michelle Fenton and both have their own unique rescue story.

Daisy, found along a highway in Texas, was adopted through a Cattle Dog rescue after Fenton drove all the way from North Dakota to bring her home.

“At the time, she was obviously nursing pups, but no pups were ever found,” Fenton told Newsweek. We bonded quickly on the ride home.”

It wasn’t long before Zoey would join them. When she let Daisy out one morning, she spotted a tiny puppy pressed against her door. “She had been dumped and thankfully found her way to us,” Fenton said.

Amazingly, the tiny puppy had found her way to safety and immediately became part of the family. Now around a year old, Zoey is loving life with Daisy.

“She’s about a year old now and full of zoomies!! She’s also a ferocious cuddler,” the owner said. “These two are great friends—I’m so grateful they are in my life.”
