The week of the oceans, Cape Verde Ocean Week (CVOW), starts on November 3rd, in São Vicente, with activities such as the `Blue food´ Fair and the Fair of activities linked to the sea (Expomar).
As in the previous year, the VII edition of CVOW chooses the fishing community of Salamansa to be the stage for the `Blue Food´ gastronomic festival, with tastings of seafood products and community specialties, in order to create a “better dynamic” in the appreciation of local products, the Ministry of the Sea provided Inforpress with advice.
On the other hand, according to the same source, the aim is to raise awareness among the general population of the importance of the blue economy in preserving species, for the well-being of the population.
Under the motto “CVOW 2024 – The Voice of the Ocean”, the event will focus on promoting different awareness-raising actions for the sustainable use of the ocean.
In this sense, several activities are programmed, including workshops, discussion panels and ‘Blue talks’, in which “relevant topics” will be addressed with the participation of experts, researchers, businesspeople and young students.
This year’s program also includes the Expomar fair, which is now in its 11th edition, with the intention of promoting the gastronomic potential of seafood products, presenting new opportunities and new products with great potential, awakening entrepreneurship in different areas. areas, namely fishing, tourism, industry, sport and business meetings.
CVOW also has other agenda items such as the first edition of the Padrinhos do Mar Gala, which is an opportunity to present the social and environmental work carried out by companies and institutions, public and private, in the preservation of sponsored beaches.
