Payments advance to hotels and yachts in Guerrero after Hurricane ‘Otis’; 70% have already been compensated – El Financiero

One year after Hurricane ‘Otis‘, the Mexican Association of Insurance Institutions (AMIS) reported that compensation to large businesses, such as hotels and yachts, have reached significant percentages.

Norma Alicia Rosasgeneral director of AMIS, mentioned that about 90 percent of the yachts have already been paid for, while for the hotels, progress is close to 70 percent in terms of amounts.

“We have always been prepared to support the Mexican population in the face of this type of disaster,” he said.

Regarding the total impact of the hurricane, he mentioned that 274,500 were reported affected homes in Guerrero, as well as 373 hotels that need rehabilitation, figures provided by the Secretariat of Security and Citizen Protection and the National Disaster Prevention Center.

“In total, 47 thousand 627 commercial establishments They had effects. ‘Otis’ was a hurricane characterized by very strong winds and affected everyone equally, even our suppliers in the reconstruction,” Rosas added.

In total, 25,044 million pesos have been paid between advances and compensationof which, 46.5 percent corresponds to other sectors, 20.4 percent to hotels, 4.3 percent to automobiles, and 28.8 percent to homes.
