Ron Ely, who gave life to ‘Tarzan’ in a television series, dies at 86

American actor Ron Elywho played Tarzan in the NBC series of the same name from 1966 to 1968, he has died at 86according to his daughter.

“The world has lost one of the greatest men it has ever known, and I have lost my father,” his daughter, Kirsten, wrote in a statement in which she reported that He died at home surrounded by his loved ones.

The actor’s daughter highlighted the facets of her father: “Actor, writer, coach, mentor, family man and leader,” a person who “created a powerful wave of positive influence wherever he went”, he had a special “impact” on others.

Ely first rose to fame in the 1960s, after landing the lead role in Tarzan on the NBC network, the television series that aired from 1966 to 1968.

He later returned to star Doc Savage: The Man of Bronzefrom Universal, in 1975.

The actor later played guest roles in some of the biggest television shows such as Wonder Woman, Love Cruise, Fantasy Island and superboy.

The actor also embarked on a professional career as a writer and is the author of two mystery novels, Night Shadows (1994) and East Beach (1995).

Ely’s life changed dramatically in 2019 when her son, Cameron, who was reportedly suffering from the early stages of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) disorder, stabbed his mother to deaththe actor’s wife.

Cameron was later shot dead by deputies from the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Department in California.

“My greatest comfort is knowing that my father is with my mother and my brother. It is also my greatest sadness because I miss them all so much that it is engraved in my soul (…) until we all meet again,” her daughter added, according to national media.
