National Directorate of the Environment exercises its right to respond to the news article “Company Suifogo denounces unequal treatment when plastic packaging enters the country”.

1. The National Environment Directorate has applied the law on the use of single-use plastics, with uniform criteria for all economic operators in the country, and always in strict compliance with the law and does not discriminate against any operator over another, therefore the DNA’s accusation of discrimination is false. In fact, with the representative of the company “Suifogo”, in addition to reacting via email, the institution sent all legal support, and personally explained to the operator the procedures they must adopt to request authorization;

2. It is important to highlight that the request from the company “Suifogo” does not yet have a decision from the institution, as DNA is awaiting technical elements requested from the company for decision-making, which to date have not been sent. In this sense, the institution’s quick response depends exclusively on the company’s reaction;

3. We are surprised, however, that instead of reacting to DNA’s request, the company uses social media and social networks to try to tarnish the good name of the institution, when the process in question has not yet had a final decision;

4. However, despite this fallacious and inelegant attitude adopted by the company manager, DNA, for the sake of its good name and the functioning of the economy, remains available to decide the process as soon as possible;

5. DNA has guided dialogue and guided economic operators to always opt for alternatives to single-use plastic.
