Will grant 14,500 pesos in year-end vouchers to state workers – El Financiero

The federal government, through the Ministry of Finance, agreed with the unions of workers at the service of the state, the granting of 14,500 pesos for end-of-year vouchers to bureaucrats, basic teachers and doctors of the ISSSTE and operational personnel.

It is estimated that more than two million government workers will receive this economic stimulus, which is independent of the bonus of 40 days.

This year’s amount represents 400 pesos more than what they received for the end-of-year holidays in 2023.

The leader of the Federation of State Service Workers Unions (FSTSE), Joel Ayala Almeida, announced that this Tuesday “the agreement that ratifies the benefit historically converted as a labor rightfor end-of-year economic stimuli, known as food vouchers.”

The FSTSE represents one and a half million state employees who will receive the vouchers, but this benefit will also be granted to teachers and other basic workers affiliated with the National Union of State Workers (SNTE).

Data from INEGI indicate that there are two million teachers in the country, but only grassroots educators affiliated with the SNTE will receive this support.

Ayala Almeida recognized the availability of the current and previous governments to support families with their basic needs, at this time of pressing austerity.

“We can observe that suddenly some products rise significantly, even more than 50 percent, in their price, which undoubtedly affects the pockets of public servants,” he highlighted.

He added that now the end of the year holidays and the so-called January slope are coming, so the economic stimulus that was established in the Expenditure Budget 2024will help workers with these expenses and have, together with their family, happy holidays.

The union leader indicated that he has considered President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo the needs of the members of the FSTSE, especially in the wage inequality that exists, and said that good responses have been received from the authorities to continue reducing the wage gap.

“We have obtained a good response from the president, with whom we have spoken and negotiated since she was head of government of Mexico City, and she always listened to us and expressed her willingness to reach good agreements,” Joel concluded.

Last year Mexican bureaucrats received 14 thousand 100 pesos in vouchers as year-end benefits, 400 pesos more than in 2022, when an amount of 13,700 pesos was granted.
