The La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital in Valencia will be the first public health center in Spain to have the most powerful genome sequencer on the market for the genetic detection of cancer and rare diseases, capable of sequencing up to 20,000 genomes per year. The global investment in the sequencer and complementary equipment reaches 2.5 million and will be operational from April 2025.

The team comes accompanied by a bookstore preparation robot (Hamilton Star) coupled to this sequencer, allowing automation of the entire workflow. In addition, other devices (Genexus sequencer and Ion Chef Robot) have also been acquired for the detection and characterization of genetic biomarkers in both solid tumors and hematological malignancies.
Commitment in the fight against cancer
The head of the Consell has highlighted the commitment of the Generalitat to provide the Valencian health system with the most advanced technology to place the Community at the forefront in preventive, precision and personalized medicine.
