Snoop Dogg Gives His Two Cents on Martha Stewart and Ina Garten’s Falling Out

Entertainment gossip and news from Newsweek’s network of contributors

When it comes to standing up for friends, Snoop Dogg is quick to show support — especially if it’s for his BFF, Martha Stewart. On the Sunday, October 20, episode of Watch What Happens Live, the 83-year-old lifestyle guru opened up about the falling out with fellow foodie icon Ina Garten, and Snoop, 53, was right there to back her up.

During the show, host Andy Cohen prodded Stewart about the Food Network star’s new memoir, Be Ready When the Luck Happens, which was released earlier this month.

“Have you read Ina Garten’s memoir yet?” the 56-year-old talk show host asked. Stewart explained that she’s read “parts” of the book. “You read the parts about yourself? Cohen clarified. “What was your take?” The culinary queen responded, “She can write whatever she wants.”

For those who missed the episode, Stewart was last night’s WWHL bartender to celebrate Snoop’s 53rd trip around the sun — the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” singer was a guest on Cohen’s show alongside Seth Meyers.

“I didn’t read the book,” Snoop confessed, asking, “What does it say?” Cohen replied, “Ina said that they fell out because she moved to Connecticut.”

Without skipping a beat, the rapper said, “That’s weak,” and that his longtime bestie does not “fall out with people.”

Agreeing, Stewart went on to explain that she believes the friendship ended with Garten, 76, “after I went to jail.” (In 2004, the TV personality spent five months behind bars in a minimum-security federal correctional facility in Alderson, West Virginia, after being found guilty on charges including conspiracy and obstruction of justice related to the sale of a stock.)

“That’s when I stepped in,” Snoop quipped. The audience broke out in applause, while Cohen added, “When one friend goes out the door, another friend comes in the door.”

Bravo took to Instagram to share this snippet of the episode, and fans were quick to support the duo.

“I love that Snoop was immediately ready to go hard for Martha without even knowing what Andy was going to say,” commented one viewer.

“Look at Snoop sticking up for his homegirl Martha! ❤️.” cheered another.

“Oh my gosh watch uncle snoop step right into her defense!!! I love that!! I love a pure authentic friendship like that!!!” a third person chimed in.

The cookbook author first met Snoop when he appeared on her cooking show, The Martha Stewart Show, in 2008.

“What was really charming about Snoop, first of all, was his giggle. He giggles in a very, very nice way,” she shared with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit in 2023. “And his quest for learning! He is a real student, and that’s what really appealed to me.”

The pair have remained friends ever since, and have even co-hosted a celebrity cooking show together called Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party in 2016.
