Man Thinks He’s Getting Croissant in Bed, Shock Over What Happens Next

A veterinarian from London in the U.K. promised his partner a pastry in bed for breakfast, but, instead, he surprised him with something else. Now the man’s wholesome reaction to the surprise has melted hearts among internet users.

In a video shared on TikTok earlier in October by @drlazaris_vet, also known on the platform as Michael the vet, the poster can be seen entering the bedroom as his partner lies in bed with his eyes closed, waiting for the pastry he was promised.

As he gets closer, the poster asks his partner to get his hands ready, before dropping a tiny tabby kitten into them instead of a croissant. Feeling something furry moving, his partner immediately opens his eyes, before letting out a couple of screams as he tries to process the shock of the surprise.

“When you tell your partner you’ve bought a surprise pastry for breakfast but it’s actually a kitten you rescued at work. Wasn’t [expecting] the 60-year-old woman scream though …” reads a caption shared with the clip.

The poster added that the little kitten was nearly dead when someone found her and brought her to the clinic, but thankfully, he managed to bring her back to health. His partner, still incredulous, is filmed struggling to hold back his tears while he bonds with the new member of the family.

While small kittens are the cutest, U.K. animal charity Cats Protection says that they should not be separated from their mothers before 8 weeks old, to avoid issues of all sorts for both the queen and the kittens, including behavior problems such as kneading and suckling.

It is also very important for kittens to feed off their mother’s milk for the first four weeks of their life at least, to get an important nutrient known as colostrum, which will give them antibodies to protect them from disease.

When your kitten is ready to leave their mom, you can take them home, but until they reach adulthood, they will still need to follow a strict feeding schedule.

The Royal Veterinary College University of London says that, up to 12 weeks of age, kittens should eat four meals per day, better if it is prepackaged food specifically designed for kittens and their unique needs. You can decrease the frequency of the meals every three months until you transition them to adult food at around 10 months old.

Remember to have your kitten neutered or spayed, vaccinated and always up to date with any flea and deworming treatments to keep them happy and healthy.

The video quickly went viral on social media and has so far received over 1.2 million views and more than 223,500 likes on the platform.

One user, Eastj, commented: “I am sorry sir, I am now in love with your husband and his granny scream.”

Sue Robinson posted: “I mean you are going to call her Croissant now, right?”

Elaine added: “I’ve never seen a person fall in love so quickly before.”

Newsweek reached out to @drlazaris_vet for comment via TikTok comments. We could not verify the details of the case.
