In the lead-up to Halloween, one neighbor decorated their apartment door with pumpkins, a spooky doormat, and another piece of décor that has captured the attention of Benny, the dog.
An orange pumpkin pot labeled “treats,” filled with cookies, has become the highlight of the golden retriever’s walk. In a video shared by his owner, Fern (@fernandaamiller_), Benny, who lives in Colorado, is seen leading the way up the stairs and into the corridor, stopping outside the neighbor’s door.
The overlaid text explains: “Every time we get back from a walk, Benny stops at the neighbor’s door and asks me for a cookie.” The video then shows Fern picking out a bone-shaped treat and giving it to her furry friend, who gently takes it before leading the way back to their apartment.
The clip captioned “how can I say no to that face?” has garnered over 774,000 views and more than 100,000 likes in just 24 hours.
Many users have flocked to the comments to compliment Benny’s manners.
One user said, “[so] cute that he actually waits for you to give it to him, instead of him just taking them,” to which the owner responded, “he is a little gentleman sometimes.”
Another user commented, “The neighbor’s kind act, Benny’s manners … love everything about this.” A third added, “He’s like ‘we can’t be rude. They obviously put them out there for me.'”
It is unclear if the cookie is for dogs or humans, but if it’s the latter, biscuits in moderation are fine. According to dog-walking website Rover, “biscuits are unlikely to harm your dog.” However, some biscuits may contain added sugar, which dogs should avoid.

Almonds also pose a danger to dogs, as they can block the esophagus or even tear the windpipe if not thoroughly chewed. The AKC warns that salted almonds are especially hazardous, as they can cause water retention, which can be life-threatening for dogs with heart disease.
