He Congress has failed this Wednesday to the Minister of Transport and Sustainable Mobility, Oscar Puentefor his “incapacity” in the management of the railway systemafter months of breakdowns, delays and other incidents. The censure of the minister is part of a motion presented by the PP, to which not only Vox, but also ERC, Junts and Podemoswho supported or did not prevent the investiture of Pedro Sanchez and who are usually parliamentary partners of the Government.
On the contrary, the PSOE, Sumar, Bildu and the PNV have voted against the disapproval, while the Canarian Coalition, UPN and the BNG have abstained. Puente’s predecessor in the Ministry and today removed by the PSOE for the ‘Koldo case’ and deputy of the Joint Group, José Luis Ábaloshas been absent from the vote.
It is about the second time that Puente is disapproved by Parliament, after the initiative also of the PP that on September 25 was carried out in Senatewhere it has an absolute majority. Then, the popular ones also had the vote in favor of Junts and ERC, parties of Catalonia, one of the most affected communities due to the railway chaos of recent months, at high speed but especially in Rodalies.
It is also about second setback to the minister of Transport in less than a week, after another PP initiative passed in Congress last Thursday against the changes in Renf’s punctuality commitmente that urged the Government to recover the compensation conditions that were in force until June.
Measures against “chaos” and for passengers
The motion that includes the disapproval of Puente that Congress has approved also urges the Government to prepare a extraordinary shock plan with the necessary resources to alleviate the “railway chaos” in the short and medium term, with a schedule, measures by province and cost.
In the shorter term, it asks you to “immediately” prepare a urgent action plan for passengers in case of extraordinary incidents at stations or during the trip.
