Jeremy Renner will be back as Mike McLusky as Paramount has renewed its crime drama Mayor of Kingstown for a fourth season, months after the third season concluded.
Mayor of Kingstown was created by Yellowstone‘s Taylor Sheridan and Hugh Dillon. It follows Mike McLusky and his family in the city of Kingstown, Michigan where the main industry is penitentiaries and keeping the peace between the rival gangs, police and power brokers. McLusky acts as the town’s fixer and unofficial ‘mayor’, trying to keep the uneasy balance in Kingstown stable while dreaming of finally getting out of Kingstown.
The series premiered in 2022 to positive reception from critics and audiences. Following the second season, Mayor of Kingstown faced a delay in production on the third season due to Renner’s freak snow-plow accident and his extensive recovery.
The news comes just as Sheridan’s flagship series Yellowstone came to an end earlier this week, but the door was left open for a continuation or spin-offs of many of the other characters in the series. Meanwhile, Yellowstone will continue with second season of prequel 1923 and Sheridan has several other series streaming on Paramount+ including Tulsa King, Lioness and Landman.
“In season three, a series of explosions rock Kingstown and its citizens, as a new face of the Russian mob sets up shop in the city, and a drug war rages inside and outside prison walls. The pressure is on Mike McLusky (Renner) to end the war but things get complicated when a familiar face from his incarcerated past threatens to undermine the Mayor’s attempts to keep the peace among all factions.”
The Taylor Sheridan-produced series stars Jeremy Renner, Hugh Dillon, Taylor Handley, Emma Laird, Tobi Bamtefa, Derek Webster, Nishi Munshi, Hamish Allan-Headley and Michael Beach.
