The best pizza in Spain is made in Madrid

To the numerous competitions that abound in the gastronomic calendar, last year it was added Best Pizza Spain with the aim of finding the best pizza in the country. A contest (sponsored by brands such as GLOVO or MAKRO) that yesterday presented its prizes in Barcelona. second edition, after several weeks of championship.

And the results of this competition are obtained, on the one hand, from the customers of participating restaurants (anonymous public who for 25 days issue your scores through the web of the contest www.lamejorpizza.es) and, on the other, a group of expert inspectors.

In this case they have been 150 establishmentslocated in different corners of the country, those who wanted to register to highlight the quality of their artisan pizzas. Once the public evaluations had been issued (11,000 votes had already been accumulated in the first 10 days of the contest alone) and the inspectors in charge of touring the restaurants, the a list of 15 finalists.

And, given that making pizza outside your own oven can distort the results for the chefs, it was a series of final juries that personally visited each location finalist to try their creations. Judges chaired by the renowned Italian chef Andrea Tumbarello that, after the tasting (in which parameters such as quality of the dough, combination of ingredients, overall flavor…) determined the pizza winner of the second edition of Best Pizza Spain It had to be the one at the Baldoria restaurant.

Specifically, it is Buffalo Fest, one of the pizzas that this Madrid restaurant has on its menu, made with tomato San Marzano roasted, DOP Bufala mozzarella, candied tomatoes, crunchy parmesan, basil and lemon pesto.

In second place has remained Kuró Sicilian Pizzeria (Palencia), for its pizza UnDueTre…, while the bronze medal has been for La Bicicleta Pizzeria (Two Sisters, Seville), by Little path
