Before his appearance in Jemaine Clement’s “What We Do In The Shadow”, Alexander Skarsgard played the role of Eric Northam in the series “True Blood” between 2008 and 2014.
TV SERIES – An appearance that will please fans of vampire. Alexander Skarsgard, who became known for his role as Eric Northam in the series True Bloodmade a cameo in What We Do In The Shadows by Jemaine Clement.
Recently appeared on the poster of The Northman (2022) by Robert Eggers or playing the character of Lukas Matsson in Succession (2018-2023), the Swedish actor starred in the ninth episode of season 6, broadcast on Canal+ in France. Dressed all in black, Alexander Skarsgard took on the fangs of Eric Northam, the role he played for seven seasons in True Blood (2008-2014) on HBO.
“I’m afraid I don’t remember filming this episode because Dr. Laszlo Cravensworth (Matt Barry’s character in the series) apparently hypnotized me at the wrap party,” quips the actor in remarks reported by Deadline.
“But I awoke with an intense physical attraction to Dr. Cravensworth and found his extraordinary mind, charm and intelligence absolutely disarming,” he continues with humor. “I have since created a YouTube fan page for him. It’s called “Because You’re Worth Cravens.” Like, follow and subscribe », he concludes.
Yet another homage to vampire fiction
If Alexander Skarsgard’s cameo as Eric Northam is the last of What We Do In The Shadowsthis one is far from the first. Since its debut in 2019, the series has multiplied the nods to pop culture vampire series or films.
In season 1, Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, co-directors of the film Vampires in complete enmity (2014) which inspired the series, had for example reprized their roles from the feature film alongside actor Jonathan Brugh.
Other actors like Tilda Swinton (Only Lovers Left Alive), Danny Trejo (A night in hell), Paul Reubens (the film Buffy, vampire slayer), Evan Rachel Wood (True Blood) and Wesley Snipes (Blade) had also had the right to appearances in the series.
