High school football: Freeman all-stars, honorable mentions

Offense

Carter Rivieccio, quarterback

The Marlboro senior completed 79 of 133 passes for 1,043 yards and 10 touchdowns and added 249 yards on the ground with four TDs. Rivieccio registered 46- and 2-yard TD runs for the Dukes’ only scores in their 49-14 Section 9 Class B title game loss to six-time champion Port Jervis on Nov. 16.

Pedro Bonachea, quarterback

The Ellenville senior, who took over as the starting quarterback this season, powered his way to 1,236 rushing yards in eight-man football action. He had 17 TDs on the ground and 14 successful two-point conversions. Bonachea passed for 273 yards and three touchdowns.

JJ Detz, quarterback

The Wallkill junior completed 75 of 155 passes for 1,566 yards and 18 touchdowns. He had four interceptions. Detz threw four TD passes twice and had three 300-yard passing performances.

Nick Drewnowski, quarterback

The New Paltz sophomore completed 56 of 93 passes for 722 yards and 11 TDs in seven starts. He also rushed for 179 yards and four touchdowns.

Joe McDonald Jr., wide receiver

The Kingston senior caught 60 passes for 909 yards and scored eight touchdowns. McDonald’s 99-yard touchdown reception sealed a 13-2 win over Nyack in the Tigers’ first game of the year and he had a pick-six and the game-winning reception in a 12-10 upset of state-ranked and previously undefeated Monroe-Woodbury on Oct. 18. McDonald caught 11 passes for 190 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-21 loss to Middletown.

Sean Petricek, wide receiver

The Wallkill senior hauled in 27 passes for 620 yards and seven touchdowns. He had three performances of over 100 yards receiving.

Donald Giamei, wide receiver

The speedy Rondout Valley sophomore was the Ganders’ top deep threat. He had catches totaling 334 yards, with six of his receptions for touchdowns.

Ben Gabriels, wide receiver

The New Paltz senior, a three-year captain and starter, caught 16 passes for 293 yards. He made the most of his catches, recording eight touchdowns, including four against Burke Catholic.

Ryan Rauschenbach, wide receiver

The Wallkill senior caught 23 passes for 459 yards and five touchdowns. He also had 13 carries for 133 yards and five TDs.

Kent Glasgow, running back

The Wallkill junior rushed for 879 yards on 127 carries and scored nine touchdowns in nine games. He averaged 7.0 yards per carry and 98 yards per game. The versatile Glasgow also caught six passes for 105 yards and one TD and finished with over 1,000 all-purpose yards.

John “JJ” Jones, running back

The Kingston senior rushed for 388 yards and one TD and caught 33 passes for 427 yards and three touchdowns. He ran for 89 yards on 21 carries against Monroe-Woodbury and got several big first downs to kill the clock in the final minutes of the upset win over the Crusaders. He caught eight passes for 131 yards and a touchdown in a win over Wallkill.

A.J. Nugent, running back

The Highland sophomore led the team with 649 yards on 91 carries (7.13 yards per carry) and scored seven rushing TDs. He also caught a touchdown pass.

Jameer Maize, running back

The Onteora freshman had 610 yards rushing in eight games, averaging over 8.0 yards a carry. Maize had more than 200 yards receiving, including a 70-yard reception.

Kulin Ogelle, offensive lineman

The Highland senior was regarded as one of the best linemen in Section 9 and is a highly recruited offensive tackle. At 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds, he has the size and footwork to play at a high level in college, according to Highland coach Tom Schlappich.

Michael DiViesti, offensive lineman

The Marlboro senior was one of the top blockers for the Dukes’ running game, which finished with 1,891 yards (171.9 a game) and 19 rushing TDs. He had 18 pancake blocks.

Danilo DeStefano, offensive lineman

The Wallkill senior was a three-year starter across four positions on the offensive line, never missing a game in his varsity career. Starting at left tackle this season, DeStefano anchored the line that allowed the Panthers’ running game to rack up over 1,300 yards and average 6.0 yards per carry.

Sam Garitta, offensive lineman

The Marlboro senior was one of the mainstays on the Dukes’ offensive front. He had 12 pancake blocks.

Jason Mann, offensive lineman

The Ellenville senior center was a relentless blocker and made checks at the line of scrimmage to ensure that the Blue Devils would be successful on all their play calls.

Connor Elliott, offensive lineman

The Highland junior played a critical role in the team’s running game as a quick guard.

Colin Curley, offensive lineman

The New Paltz junior and two-year starter was the anchor of the offensive line for the Huguenots, who won four of their last five games to finish with a 5-5 record.

Alex Umana, offensive line

The Onteora senior had a big impact as a starter for the Eagles’ last five games. Onteora rushed for more than 250 yards a game when he became a starter.

Joshua Bishop, all-purpose back

The Highland senior was especially dangerous returning kicks, totaling 445 yards and five touchdowns. The speedy Bishop caught 20 passes for 455 yards and six TDs. He also rushed for 159 yards and scored one TD. He led the Huskies, who captured the Division II title in Class B with a perfect 4-0 record and finished 6-3 overall, with 12 touchdowns.

Michael Cathcart, all-purpose back

The Rondout Valley senior averaged 5.4 yards per rush in totaling 511 yards with a long run of 82 yards. He scored two TDs. Cathcart also passed for 287 yards and five touchdowns.

Robert Paschal, all-purpose back

The Red Hook junior did it all for the Raiders. He ran for 401 yards (8.7 yards per carry) and three touchdowns, passed for 194 yards and one TD, averaged 32.4 yards on 19 punts, and made five of six extra point kicks.

Defense

Isaiah Merilien, defensive lineman

The Kingston senior had 11 sacks and 72 tackles.

Landon MacDougall, defensive lineman

The Saugerties junior had 38 tackles and five sacks.

Harold Bruggeman, defensive lineman

The Wallkill junior totaled 65 tackles, including 12 for losses, from his defensive end position. He had eight quarterback sacks.

Myles Coons, defensive lineman

The Saugerties junior had 41 tackles, including 17 for losses. He recorded four sacks and forced three fumbles.

Cole Matteson, defensive lineman

The Onteora senior averaged 7.2 tackles per game in six games, including two sacks.

Will Fiscaletti, linebacker

The Saugerties senior had 64 tackles, including a staggering 21 for losses. He had six sacks and forced three fumbles.

Giorgi Partsvania, linebacker

The Marlboro sophomore had a team-high 106 tackles (9.6 per game), including 8.5 for losses.

Nick Burda, linebacker

The New Paltz junior, a two-year starter and captain, had 56 tackles. He recorded three for losses and had a sack.

Sean Robertson, linebacker

The Marlboro senior outside linebacker averaged a team-high 10 tackles per game, including 15 for losses. He also had a key blocked punt in the second half of the Dukes’ 21-7 playoff win over archrival Highland.

Robert BaJardi, linebacker

The Red Hook junior had 62 tackles, including three for losses. BaJardi had one sack, forced two fumbles, recovered two fumbles, and deflected three passes.

Marshall Stokes, linebacker

The Kingston senior had 94 tackles and five sacks.

Chase Matteson, linebacker

The Onteora junior led the Eagles with a team-high 106 tackles, an average of 13.3 tackles per game. He had three sacks.

Logan Ellison, linebacker

The Highland junior led the team in tackles for the third straight season.

Ezra Cafaldo, linebacker

The Saugerties senior had 51 tackles, three fumble recoveries, and an interception.

Chris DeNatale, defensive back

The Marlboro senior had three interceptions and was one of the leaders of the Dukes’ secondary. He had one fumble recovery.

Nick Horowitz, defensive back

The New Paltz senior, a three-year starter and two-year captain, had 43 tackles. He had 10 tackles for losses, three sacks and one interception.

Marcus Lewis-Rivera, defensive back

The Ellenville senior was a lockdown cornerback for the Blue Devils. Lewis-Rivera was also dangerous on offense and special teams. He returned the second-half kickoff 65 yards for a touchdown to break a scoreless tie in a 22-0 win over Onteora.

Robert Peterson, defensive back

The Saugerties junior had 31 tackles and three interceptions.

Luc Saguilan, kicker

The New Paltz junior had 33 kickoffs for 1,450 yards and made 14 extra points. He also had a 23-yard field goal for the Huguenots.
