300,000 signatures submitted to Congress calling for ‘brainwashing’ to be criminalised

The Network for the Prevention of Sectarianism and Abuse of Weakness (RedUNE) has delivered this Thursday close to 300,000 signatures in the record of the Congress for ask that coercive persuasion should be classified as a crimewhich we also know as ‘brainwashing’.

This type of persuasion, as some call ‘brain-pushing’, “forces a person in a subtle way, not in a direct way” to make decisions that seem to be their own. “Before a court, it seems that this person has made free decisions when in reality has been pressed to take them” says an expert.

These decisions would never have been made by the individual in question “without a intervention of a third partya sectarian group or environment,” however, before the law it is difficult to prove a crime of coercive persuasion.

Faced with these situations, RedUNE has already collected some 300,000 signatures to classify coercive persuasion, which occurs mostly in violent and sectarian environments, as a crime. In some European countries, this type of crime has already been developedas in France, Belgium, Luxembourgand United Kingdom. Now, these regions allow us to condemn psychological manipulation by a person, group or leader.
