Zé was a prominent name in Brazilian bodybuilding, not only for his impressive physique, but also for his influence in the fitness community. Throughout his career, he had achieved important achievements, such as a ninth place in the 2018 South American Championship and an eleventh place in the 2017 Arnold Classic South America. Furthermore, beyond his sporting side, he was a lawyer, nutritionist and businessman, owning a chain of supplement stores and offering advice to other bodybuilders through his social networks.

The news of his death has shocked the fitness world, and his nutrition company, Moov Sport Nutritionexpressed his deep pain in a statement. On social networks, his brother Tiago He denied rumors linking Zé’s death to the use of anabolic steroids, stating that his brother was in excellent health before the heart attack.

Although Zé was no longer competing professionally, he was still involved in the world of bodybuilding training other athletes, staying active on social media and sharing his experience with thousands of followers. Zé’s sudden death has once again opened the debate about the dangers of steroid use and the pressure to achieve muscular bodies at all costs, although so far it has not been confirmed that his death was related to the consumption of these substances.

Through an emotional message, Tiago paid tribute to his brother on social networks: “You were incredible. Thank you for so much. I love you. Heaven has gained an angel. José was a very beloved man.” Zé’s tragedy adds to a growing list of deaths in the world of bodybuilding, which has already suffered other significant losses in recent years, such as the case of Matheus Pavlak and other young athletes who have died from causes related to steroid use, illness or accidents.
