The strike started on October 4 within the Mélanie-Klein unit, which specializes in caring for patients with autism spectrum disorders, continues. A new picket, the third, was held on Tuesday in front of the gates of the Mas Careiron hospital center in Uzès.
The strikers always claim to obtain a special bonus, to recognize the specificity of their mission. Indeed, the staff of the unit is in direct contact with patients who, during crises, can be violent with them. Moreover, since the beginning of the strike, “We have another work stoppage. A colleague has been arrested for ten days following violent beatings by a patient”Chloe breathes nurse in the Mélanie-Klein unit.
A unit where the FEI, the adverse event sheets, which list all incidents, have now exceeded the number of 200 since the beginning of the year.“And again, we don’t do them all. Hair pulling or scratches, we don’t write them anymore » , adds the nurse. Faced with the difficulty of their mission, the personnel of the unit therefore asks for greater recognition, which requires a bonus. However, from the start of the movement, the management told them that it was impossible for them to give such a bonus.
“They claim to have a premium that does not exist. You have to be in a unit that allows this type of recognition. This is clearly not the case. It is with great regret that I cannot pay them anything.” , told us the acting director of the establishment, Roman Cencic. Since then, the strikers claim to have contacted the Regional Health Agency,“who tells us that social dialogue must take place between management and us”

We are talking about an additional hundred euros per month.“We can create something new” believes Manu, a nurse at Mas Careiron, who sometimes comes to help out Mélanie-Klein.
The entire unit, 35 people, is following the strike, supported by the Sud Santé social union, as well as by an internal petition at the establishment which has more than 400 signatures, according to the strikers. While work in the unit continues without impact for patients, the strikers say they are determined to continue the movement, and are now planning to demonstrate in front of the headquarters of the Regional Health Agency.
