The second edition of the “Cevenn’ink” tattoo convention began this Saturday at the Parc des expositions in Méjannes-les-Alès. Darko Peric alias “Helsinki”, actor of Money Heistis the sponsor of an event which attracted many visitors.

On this first day of the Cevenn’ink show, the public is at the rendezvous, confirming the ever more lively democratization of a practice that it was once fashionable to mock. A glance at the visitor car park is enough to give an idea of the enthusiasm which is confirmed a few meters further on, in the queue (our photo). Inside the Exhibition Center, the aisles where more than 80 tattoo artists have taken place are crowded this Saturday afternoon.

The vibrations of the needles ring from all sides, many visitors having chosen to get a tattoo on the spot without hesitation, like Louane, 27, who came from Montélimar to find happiness with a professional from Aude. While the tattooed suffer in silence in sometimes unacademic positions depending on the tattooed area, some refresh themselves at the Bistrot Nautilus which faces the entrance.

Sprinkled with many activities, including Mike Fly’s performance on stage, “the human beatbox” (our video), this event is also an opportunity for needle handlers to defend the identity of their “shop” and to messages. Like Léonore Arcache, who came from Toulouse for the very first time: “Since I was little, I have been a fan of Julien Doré. I know he was born in Alès so when I knew I had the opportunity to come to the area, I didn’t hesitate. I dream of tattooing him one day. If he has a small place left anywhere on his body and he is there, don’t hesitate! »

The young woman boasts a style inspired by “slightly trashy cartoon from the 70s”, “skate culture” and the “punk-rock”. “Today communication goes a lot through Instagram. Here there is a little “market” side which is pleasant. It allows you to have direct contact with people who can choose to have “flash” tattoos on the spot. It’s also very nice to see how other colleagues work. There is a little effervescence, rejoices the Toulouse.

Johnatan did not come from that far. Already present in 2019, the co-manager of MJ Ink Tattoo and Barber based in Saint-Christol-lez-Alès would not have missed the event for anything in the world: ” It is enormous ! It drains a lot of people. Being a local, people can get tattooed on the spot or come back to see us later at the salon. » “Full” from 2 p.m. this Saturday in terms of reservations, the 30-year-old was already booking appointments for this Sunday, the second and last day of Cevenn’ink.

Tattooed on both arms and face, Johnatan appreciates the new image enjoyed by the “tattoo”, thanks to a dazzling demarginalisation: “It is much less frowned upon than before. Today a tattoo is considered more like a piece of skin jewelry than a sign of a convict. » Yet it is in a role of robber that Darko Peric has definitely made his acting career take off with his role in Helsinki in Casa de Papel.

For the second time in as many editions, the Serb made the trip to Méjannes-les-Alès as sponsor of the convention. Sometimes fluent in English, Spanish, French and his native language, the colossus, himself a former tattoo artist, returned to service for an afternoon by tattooing his own son’s arm with a marker (our photo), before performing the show with Fakir Testa.
