“We are confident for the rest of the weekend”
carlos sainz dominated the first free practice session. In comments reported by Nextgen-Autohe says : » It was a different Friday here in Austin. In FP1 we managed to finish our schedule, but FP2 was just for the Pirelli test, which allowed us to try next year’s tires for an hour and a half without changing the car’s settings. It also means that Free Practice 3 will be even bigger than usual before qualifying. Overall, we were relatively competitive today and we are confident for the rest of the weekend. »
« It’s always a good sign »
On his side, Charles Leclerc had not taken part in the first free practice session but won the second. Thus, he can hope to return to victory and end the series of Max Verstappen. » It was very intense, I think these are the most intense EL2s I have played. But it was good, it was fun, I did a lot of laps, I tested a lot of tires, including the prototypes. It was a good day overall, the feeling is good and by doing so many laps in Free Practice 2, we were able to make up for the lack of running we had in Free Practice 1. The feeling was immediately good, it is always a good sign. We have to improve between Friday and Saturday, but the feeling was good. So I hope we’ll have a good Saturday » highlighted Leclerc.
