Three weeks after a first demonstration which brought together a thousand people and four days after a mobilization alongside the strikers of ATS, the local union of the CGT of Alès called “angry workers” to gather on the forecourt of the Crater this Saturday morning.
We are far from May 68. Once is not custom, the count of the number of participants of the morning mobilization made consensus, union and police agreeing on a figure close to 70 people for what should have been a great march against the dear life. A disappointment for the local union of the CGT of Alès who thought of making a deal by deciding to mobilize on a Saturday (reread here). And the union organization will not even be able to brandish the rain as an excuse, because despite a cloudy sky, the weather today proved to be more than mild.
Asked aside, Martine Sagit, general secretary of the Alesian local union, put it into perspective: “The workers are asking us for action. We do them. Afterwards, everyone takes their responsibilities…” The crestfallen expression displayed by Alain Martin, a local CGT figure, also betrayed his disillusionment. “Since this Covid, I have the impression that people stupidly follow what the government decides without opposing. However, we will have to oppose at some point if we do not want to suffer »worried the last named at the microphone.
“Employees without money, merchants without customers”
Words that echoed on the forecourt of the Crater, at the foot of the court, while Martine Sagit had just read a speech recalling “the success of the popular front” to the Legislative in 1936. “That’s what we’re trying to do and we’ll get there”, she swore. And to question, in a thinly veiled spade for the attention of the CFDT: “Do those who don’t like strikes and criticize strikers refuse the social progress wrought by strikes? »
Deploring the actions of the government, including those of “Madame Borne who plays with 49.3 and flouts our democracy”the secretary general of the CGT claimed: “We must not let this government whose plan is to exterminate our social system. Macron increases social insecurity on a daily basis! » Still fighting against the increase in the retirement age, the UL CGT of Alès sees in the transition to 1,607 annual hours “hidden free labor”.
So many reasons that should push the CGT to mobilize again on October 27 and November 10. At the call of Alain Martin, a procession nevertheless formed this Saturday morning after the speech, to go up Boulevard Louis-Blanc to the sub-prefecture. At the wheel of the union truck carrying the sound system, the last named tried to enlist a few passers-by. “Bernard Arnault earns 800 euros per second. Wealth, however, is created by employees! »he blurted out, before spitting out a few slogans: “Increase wages and not shareholders, we will make businesses work”, “employees without money, traders without customers”, “young people in trouble, old people in misery, of this society, we do not want it ! »
