On July 6, the time has come and the European Women’s Championship in England will open with the duel between hosts England and Austria. The DFB women, who also qualified for the big event, enter the tournament two days later, on July 8th, with their first group game against Denmark. But before the team headed by national coach Martina Voss-Tecklenburg embarks on the flight to the island, they have to play one more test match.
Today, Friday, June 24th, the Germans will face off against their neighbor from Switzerland, also a participant in the European Championship. The duel will kick off at 5 p.m. and will be played at the Steigerwald Stadium in Erfurt, Germany.
It is the 18th duel between the women’s national team of Germany and Switzerland. Of the 17 completed, Germany won 16 times, only once did the two nations separate with a draw – and that was in 1988. The last duel so far was several years ago. In 2015, Germany won 3-1.
