An autopsy on the cleaning works of the sensitive forest ecosystems of the Prefecture of Ilia, was carried out by the Deputy Minister of Environment and Energy, George Amyrasaccompanied by the Director General of Forests and Forest Environment, Vangelis Gudoufas and the deputies of Ilia Dionysia Avgerinopoulou and Andrea Nikolakopoulos.
The area is being cleaned, the vegetation is thinned and the accumulated biomass is removed in an area of 3 thousand acres in the forests of Aleppo pine and pine in Strofilia, Kaiafa, Vartholomio, Manolada, Andravida, and Kyllini. At the same time, maintenance and widening works of tens of kilometers of forest roads and fire zones are being carried out.
The projects are funded by the Fund for Recovery and Sustainability through the National Forest Protection Program “Antinero”, with competitive procedures through HRDH.
It is recalled that today, in more than 80 forest areas and sensitive forest ecosystems of the country, preventive clean-ups are carried out, removal of accumulated biomass fuel for decades, maintenance of forest roads and opening of fire zones.
The program of cleaning and thinning of vegetation covers a total area of 77,000 acres, opening of forest roads 12,000 kilometers and maintenance or opening of 1,600 kilometers of fire zones.

Earlier o Mr. Amyras visited Ancient Olympia where he signed a four-year Memorandum of Cooperation with the company P. Papadopoulos SA for donation of modern mechanical equipment Husqvarna and personal safety equipment to the forest services of the prefecture of Ilia and the forest cooperatives that worked for the construction of after last summer’s forest fires.
