Glen Kamara in Rangers transfer link as Brighton ‘target’ Ibrox midfield ace

Rangers star Glen Kamara has emerged as a target for English Premier side Brighton and Hove Albion, according to a report.

The Finland international was a key part of Rangers’ run to the Europa League Final, netting in the dramatic semi victory over RB Leipzig in front of a raucous home support. The 26-year-old made the move to Govan in 2019 after signing from Dundee in a deal worth around just £50,000 which has proved a snip. After penning an extension last year, the 26-year-old still has three years left on his Rangers contract.

The midfielder has made 158 appearance for the Light Blues, netting eight goals since his arrival. He was a key part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst ‘s squad who finished off the season with a Scottish Cup victory over Hearts at Hampden. During his time at Rangers, his form has seen him linked with clubs on the continent and south of the border with the Seagulls the latest addition to the list, according to 90min.

The Seagulls have already sold midfielder Yves Bissouma to Tottenham this summer, with a replacement a priority before the transfer window closes. And Brighton scouts have been busy compiling reports on potential replacements in recent days, with Kamara on the list of targets, according to reports.

The Premier League club are not the only side showing interest in the Ibrox ace. Rangers’ semi final opponents RB Leipzig are reportedly interested, with fellow Bundesliga outfit and Europa League winners Eintracht Frankfurt. also said to be keeping tabs on the player.

The midfielder spent his formative years in England with Arsenal after being snapped up by boss Arsene Wenger from Southend’s academy. However, Kamara never made an appearance in the Premier League during his time at the Gunners. Kamara previously admitted that he could be tempted with a move back to England, or elsewhere in Europe, as he is keen to take his career to the ‘next level’ in the coming years.
