The PSPV leaves the ‘president’ alone

The PSPV leaves the ‘president’ alone

In the same week in which the outgoing president of Mexico, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, and the elected president, Claudia Sheinbaum, had achieved the miracle of putting the PSOE and PP in agreement on one thing (showing indignation at the veto of the king Felipe VI), in that same week, The PSPV leaves the platform consensus for fair financing so that he president Carlos Mazón cannot exhibit unity this Friday in his meeting with Pedro Sánchez.

Once again the Valencian consensus is broken, Mazón confronts Sánchez in the scenario that the general secretary of the socialists best masters: division. There are rumors of an early election in Madrid gossip mills and that destabilizes any agreement. Ferraz and Génova know that the favorable deal with Catalonia is going to be one of the axes on which a foreseeable electoral campaign will revolve and the socialist federations cannot deviate from the script set by the Federal Executive.

The PSPV has twisted its argument to end the consensus on financing. They reject the proposal for the leveling fund, which Ximo Puig did defend at the time, because It would be applied in all communities and not only in underfinanced ones, as is the case of the Comunitat Valenciana. They also want to include vetoes on tax cuts for the rich. The latter does fit with socialist ideology, but the former is really against nature.

So once again, we go to Madrid without being germanats. The same thing happens to us as to Mexico with the US. If in his day Porfirio Díaz expressed that of “Poor Mexico, so far from God and so close to the United States”, we can well say: “Poor Community, so far from God and so close to Madrid and Barcelona.”
