A huge police deployment protects the Israeli prime minister tonight, Benjamin Netanyahuof the anger of hundreds of pro-Palestinian protesters who are trying to get to their hotel in New York, according to the images posted by the participants.
Netanyahu traveled to New York this Thursday to speak tomorrow before the General Assembly of the UNin his first trip since the war in Gaza begana war that has given rise to hundreds of pro-Palestinian protests for months, both in universities and on the streets of New York.
Hundreds of people dressed in Palestinian flags and kufiyas around their necks headed down Second Avenue towards the hotel where Netanyahu was staying on the parallel Park Avenue, to run into a huge barrier of metal fences that prevented them from getting closer than 50 meters.
The protesters shouted “Gaza, Gaza” and “Beirut, Beirut”, as well as “Free Palestine”and in various social media accounts they promised to spend the night under the hotel making noise to disturb the president’s sleep.
Netanyahu’s participation today is highly anticipated, after the war in Gaza has featured in practically all the speeches in the different countries on the five continents during the past few days, in which the most repeated idea has been to demand a ceasefire in Gaza which the Israeli Government refuses to declare.
