The Spanish Carlos Alcaraz has been crowned champion of the China Open after an intense match against Jannik Sinner, current world number one. In a meeting that lasted more than three and a half hours, the Murcian left an anecdotal detail that has not gone unnoticed.
Already in the ‘tie break’ of the last set and when he was 2-0 behind the Italian tennis player, Alcaraz retired to the bench to change his insoles and shoes which he had been wearing throughout the match.
After a few moments of waiting, The Spaniard returned to the track to attempt the comeback against Sinner. And the change of shoes went very well, perhaps more than everyone expected.
