Cleric Hashem Safi al Din is elected new leader of Hezbollah after the death of his cousin Nasrallah

The head of the Executive Council of the Lebanese Shiite group Hezbollah, cleric Hashem Safi al Din, was elected this Sunday as the general secretary of the organization’s political and armed movement, the Arab media reported. Al Arabiya.

According to the media, the Hezbollah council chose Safi al Din as successor to his maternal cousin Hasan Nasrallah, who was killed in an Israeli bombing outside Beirut on Friday.
