Pat McAfee Hints at “Big” WWE Superstar’s Return

Some of the greatest moments in professional wrestling history mark a wrestler’s return after a lengthy absence.

Specific return highlights include CM Punk coming back at Survivor Series 2023, John Cena’s surprise entry in the 2008 Royal Rumble, and Roman Reigns returning to the ring at SummerSlam 2024.

Now, it looks like yet another WWE legend could be making their return to the squared circle.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently appeared on an episode of The Pat McAfee Show.

After sharing some backstage footage on Instagram, McAfee told Rhodes that “the big guy’s coming back this week.” Rhodes proceeded to play dumb, causing McAfee to declare, “You told me enough.”

There are plenty of “big guys” that McAfee could be referring to. Since Roman Reigns has already returned, it’s likely that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson could make his return.

Meanwhile, fans have been clamoring for Big E to return. However, the status of his neck means that it is unlikely that he could make his in-ring return anytime soon, if at all.

McAfee could also be referring to Omos, literally the biggest wrestler on WWE’s roster. He was last seen in April. But with MVP’s absence, there’s no telling what the plan is for Omos in the future.

Another contender could be John Cena, who may be starting to ramp up for his retirement tour in 2025.

Then there’s another name: Brock Lesnar. Not only does he meet the “big” descriptor since he is absolutely massive, but he also is one of the biggest names in the sport.

However, there is a major wall standing in the way: the Janel Grant lawsuit.

Grant’s lawsuit alleges that former WWE CEO Vince McMahon directed Grant to share explicit photos of herself with a wrestler he wanted to re-sign.

While Lesnar’s name wasn’t mentioned, the wrestler was described as a UFC fighter and WWE talent. It was later confirmed by The Wall Street Journal to be Lesnar.

Lesnar has since been removed from any WWE hype packages and the WWE 2K24 (2023) video game.

Still, this hasn’t stopped fans from speculating about Lesnar’s return, wanting matchups between The Beast Incarnate and Bronson Reed, Bron Breakker, and Gunther.

No matter who the wrestler is that is making their return, there’s one thing we know for sure: he’s going to be big.
